Just days after the County Council announced plans to raise Council Tax, the Labour Fire Authority has dealt another blow to resident's pockets after voting through a 1.9% increase in their share of the Council Tax for next year.
"Another week, another example of Labour raising Council tax on Derbyshire people," said Lee Rowley, Parliamentary candidate for North East Derbyshire. "With so many councils and authorities across the country managing to freeze or - perish the thought - reduce council tax, why can't Derbyshire Labour do the same?"
"It's all the more galling because the officers at the Fire Authority were modelling their financial forecasts on a freeze this year - but Labour have gone and increased council tax nonetheless."
