Home Secretary Theresa May was in town earlier today visiting a local school to find out more about a successful organisation helping to support kids in the Chesterfield area.
Ms May visited Calow Primary School with Prospective MP Lee Rowley to find out more about Ozbox, a well-known local initiative led by Derbyshire police officers seeking to keep local youngsters fit and engaged through box fit classes.
The Home Secretary told the Derbyshire Times: "It has been really interesting and inspiring hearing about the Ozbox scheme, and about some of the examples of how young lives have been changed by giving them that sense of belonging and the feeling that they have done something right. I have come here to see and example of what can be acheived.”
Prospective MP Lee Rowley thanked the Ozbox, Calow Primary School and the youngsters for arranging the visit. "It is great to see another senior government minister in our part of the world and learning more about some of the fantastic things that are done day-in, day-out in the Chesterfield area."
"Engaging with young people is a vital part of ensuring our communities remain strong in the future. Ozbox are a great example of local organisations working for the benefit of everyone in the area."
