I wanted to provide a further short update on the work still underway regarding Killamarsh post office following the recent retirement of the postmaster after many years of distinguished service.
As Killamarsh residents know, we have secured a commitment from the Post Office to support a branch in Killamarsh after the post masters recent retirement. So, the vital thing now is to find someone (person or company) who will take it on. The link to the expression of interest can be found here.
The decision about someone taking it on is ultimately between that person and the Post Office but I've been trying to help provide details to any residents who are interested and also look for others who may want to look at it. That has included, along with local Councillors, approaching businesses who already are in the village to see if they want to host it on their premises - and to try to encourage one of them to do so.
A few days ago, I had the first meeting with one of the them (the Coop). Despite a detailed conversation about the possibility of taking it on, the Coop have decided that they aren't able to at the time so, sadly, that is not a go-er. I also have requests for discussion out with Aldi and Premier and, if they don't work, we'll try elsewhere as well.
This is taking some time to work through but I'll keep trying here - I will keep you updated as / when I have more information.
