Lee Rowley MP, Member of Parliament for North East Derbyshire, has welcomed key progress on the regeneration of Clay Cross with the announcement that the planning application for the project has now been submitted to North East Derbyshire District Council. The regeneration is backed by £24.1 million of government investment that Lee played a key role in securing.
The regeneration of Clay Cross follows extensive consultation with both residents and business in Clay Cross and focuses on ensuring the town is a thriving place to live and work. The plan does this by seeking to create a positive environment for businesses to set up shop through investment in the development of small businesses and creating further opportunities for residents to develop their skills.
This deal also seeks to ensure greater connectivity for all residents of Clay Cross by boosting local transport links, including the new Clay Cross Railway Station, and digital connectivity.
Commenting, Lee Rowley stated:
‘It is fantastic news that the planning application for the Clay Cross regeneration has finally been submitted. This marks a key point in this critical project for North East Derbyshire and I look forward to planning permission being granted by the district council.’
‘The Clay Cross regeneration is something I have fought for ever since I first got elected. From when the plans were first announced, I have worked hard to progress the regeneration in every way I could, including helping to secure over £24 million from government specifically for this project.’
‘I want to see Clay Cross become a town we are all proud of and I know the regeneration will help to do that by encouraging more businesses to set up shop in the town while also providing greater education opportunities to the whole constituency. A key part of the plan is also developing those local transport links that so many residents depend on, including the crucial Clay Cross Railway Station that I recently spoke to Network Rail about.’
‘I look forward to seeing these plans progress swiftly through the application phase and getting the regeneration work underway as soon as possible.
