Lee urges residents to respond to HS2 consultation

Friday, 15 November, 2013

With just over two months left of the formal consultation on High Speed Two, North East Derbyshire Prospective MP Lee Rowley is urging residents to make sure they have their say.

The plan to extend High Speed Two beyond its initial Birmingham end point is now under formal consideration - including the part of the line which runs right through North East Derbyshire.  The projected line will directly affect villages such as Killamarsh, Renishaw and Eckington, along with the surrounding countryside.

"Lots of residents have told me about their concerns about the effect of High Speed Two on our area," commented Lee.  "Whether you are in favour or opposed to the plans - or simply want them changed so they affect North East Derbyshire less than planned - make sure you get involved in the consultation; it is the only way to change things!"

The formal consultation is open until 31 January 2014.  Further information and a link to the consultation can be found at: http://www.hs2.org.uk/route-consultation.
