Prospective MP for North East Derbyshire, Lee Rowley, joined three other politicians on Wednesday for a local Question Time hosted by Netherthorpe School in Staveley.
The debate, which was in front of a student audience, was an opportunity for four local politicians to be put through their paces by tomorrow's generation of voters. For over an hour, Lee and the other panellists were grilling on topics as diverse as tax, Europe, immigration and tuition fees.
"Today was great example of getting out into the local community and making politics matter to people," said Lee. "Netherthorpe are setting a brilliant example of how important it is for young people to find out more about the electoral process and, close up, ask the questions that are high on their list of priorities. Thanks to the school for inviting me and thanks to the students who organised everything!"
"I also want to thank the teachers who took the time to show us round the school, including the old buildings where I took part in the Netherthorpe Debating Trophy debates al those years ago!"
