Conservative Parliamentary candidate, Lee Rowley, has condemned plans by Alan Charles, Derbyshire's Police & Crime Commissioner to raise his share of Council Tax for the upcoming year.
Under Commissioner Charles's proposals, the Derbyshire Police Authority could raise their council tax bill by anything up to 1.99% - with reports in papers suggesting that the rise will actually be just shy of that amount (1.96%).
"North East Derbyshire residents do not want to be hit in the pocket by a council tax rise during these tough times," said Lee. "Alan Charles and Derbyshire Labour need to think again about the need to raise tax on hardworking people."
